#30 – L’arbre aux oiseaux

An unusual format for me, l’arbre aux oiseaux was commissioned by my little girl for her bedroom. Inspired by the #28 – Dream Tree painting, Charlotte wanted to have another dream tree with many birds in it.
It’s an unusual format for me, not being square, and much smaller with 60cm x 40cm. I struggled with the colour mix at first, and the busyness of the painting, but my daughter didn’t want me to mute it down at all.
I played with a number of stencils that I had acquired recently, with birds, flowers, leaves (similar to the Dream Tree painting), positioning them at different angles, to end up giving the canvas a buzzing wild fantasy world where tree trunks are purple and blue and the underwoods red and orange.
And in the end, my little girl was delighted and added two butterflies as finishing touches and proudly displays her magical “Bird Tree” in her bedroom.
