I have been asked on several occasions about my painting process, so I have decided to share on my blog the following, having received positive feedback from people to whom I showed this to.
I made this time lapse video by taping my iPhone to the door of my winter garden. It will give you an idea of how I work in my atelier.
Directors’cut
I typically have several paintings on the go and switch between paintings while a layer is drying. This 23-second time lapse is a condensed version of two hours of painting, alternating between two canvases.
The colour palette is very contrasted between both paintings I have on the go in there, in case you have the feeling that the video is “jumping” abruptly between frames.
Some of my paintings emerge very quickly while others take much longer.
In the above video, one of my latest paintings is going through a metamorphosis over a few layers, almost from beginning to end. The day after, I touched up a few details to add more contrast in places and finished it. This is the finished painting:

I have added below a few more frames to give you a more in-depth impression as the video does not do justice to the finished painting…
I hope you enjoyed the ride as much as I did. Here it is, once more: A taste of my painting process
