I haven’t been active on my blog this year. Somehow there were more important things going on in the world and in my life. I would like to make good today in this blog and will give you the highlights of the last ten months!

Starting 2020 strong!

2020 started on a high with TWO group exhibitions at Galeríeka – one in February 2020 for the 5 year jubilee of the gallery and one from March to May 2020. My paintings were well received and I met new fans and collectors of my artwork. Here are a few memories of the vernissage from the February 2020 exhibition:

I also took part in a milestone event for me: the reading of the Vagina Monologues for V-DAY2020. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against all women, girls and the planet. I created the painting below to celebrate VDAY2020 and prepared a video montage of my paintings telling the story of my own sexual trauma and healing. I felt proud to be part of this charity reading for the benefit a safe house / shelter for women in Hamburg.

Creativity during lockdown

And then came March 2020. The COVID-19 lockdown started in Hamburg and my creativity suddenly came to a halt. I was indeed in shock to start with and did not go to my atelier for almost a whole month. I got out of the shock and resumed my art-making in a Facebook live video over Easter and found my creative mojo.

During the lockdown to run online creative meetups for a French-speaking friend at first and then our little circle expanded to 6 women. We are now celebrating 6 months of activity, meeting up physically after 3 months virtually. It’s been a beautiful experience to see creativity bring us together.

Since April onwards, I’ve been creating large format paintings again.

Here’s one that I’m particularly proud of – my “Uncharted Universe”.

Evolving creativity

Since June 2020, my creativity has evolved. I’ve had tough moments with low morale… who hasn’t this year… but I feel that I’ve come strong allowing my vulnerability to come through in my paintings.

From my paintings «My beautiful mess» to «Inner chaos», «Innocence lost – and found again», all my paintings are telling of a journey, a very intimate one, always looking for my inner light to shine through.

Feeling the Light

More than ever, I feel that my motto «Feeling the Light» resonates in these evolving times. I’m sensing an energetic shift like so many around me are.

I have the feeling that my paintings are letting this shift through in a strong way – letting this energy be seen, feeling, presaging of a new, more positive era. It’s a time of inner transformation. Are you feeling it too?
