I’m in love with golden hues and I’ve been allowing myself to use more gold in my paintings lately. Note: to view more paintings with golden hues, click on the slider above.

Gold manifests on the canvas my intention to feel the light, the mystery, the connection to the universe.

Combined with magenta, it also evokes healing and pure potential to me. Powerful presence.

In the darkness of winter in the Northern hemisphere, gold is one of the warmest colours that I can think of, from the glow of the candles, to the roaring fire in the fireplace back home and the bobbles and tinsel hanging traditionally in the Christmas tree of my childhood.

Gold is the mystery that we keep inside our heart and soul and which can shine so bright if allowed to reveal itself.

Gold is the creative fire, the mystery of sunbeam which can transcend a landscape when the clouds break open, making raindrops and puddles glisten like diamonds.

Gold is also a symbol for dreams to me, the “magic dust” which gives radiance to ideas, forms and shapes.

As I stood back from my latest commission (image featured at the top), I found myself thinking of the word JOY as I felt the warm glow in my heart.

Summer kisses, sandy beaches at sunset, the sun-bleached blond hair of my daughter catching the light as she runs towards me…

What does the color gold evoke for you?
